Lakkotrypis to Attend Informal Meeting of EU Energy Ministers in Bratislava

Energy Minister, Yiorgos Lakkotrypis traveled on July 12 to Bratislava where he will participate in the informal meeting of EU Energy Ministers to take place on July 13, Cyprus News Agency reports.

The EU Ministers will discuss the energy prices and their impact on the competitiveness of the EU. A second panel will focus on the topic of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and underground gas storage facilities and their contribution to ensuring EU energy security.

Commission Vice-President for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič, the Chair of the European Parliament`s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, Jerzy Buzek, and the special guest of the informal Council, Amos J. Hochstein, Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs of the US Department of State, will take part in the discussions.

On the sidelines of the informal Council, the Minister is set to meet with Hochstein.

He returns home early on July 14.
