In August 2010, 40 of America’s wealthiest individuals and couples joined together in a commitment to give more than half of their wealth away. To date, 183 of the world’s wealthiest individuals, couples and families have signed the Giving Pledge. One of them is Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and, in the latest issue of GOLD (out on Sunday, June 17), he explains his philosophy of philanthropy as part of the magazine’s cover story, which showcases the growing number of successful Cypriots who have found ways to make a difference to the lives of those who are less fortunate than themselves.
