Anastasiades in Israel for Peres' Funeral

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has travelled to Israel where he will attend Shimon Peres` funeral later on September 30, the Cyprus News Agency reports.

The former Israeli Prime Minister and President passed away on September 28 at the age of 93.

President Anastasiades, who is accompanied by Deputy Government Spokesman Victoras Papadopoulos, returns home tonight.

Peres jointly won a Nobel Prize for his peace efforts with the Palestinians in the 1990s. A great number of foreign leaders are attending the funeral, among them President Obama, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, German Chancellor, Prince Charles, Presidents of Germany and France etc.
