House Approves Resolution Requesting the Lifting Of European Sanctions against Russia

The House of Representatives approved on July 7 a resolution calling for the lifting of the sanctions the European Union has imposed on the Russian Federation, the Cyprus News Agency reports.
The resolution was approved by 33 votes in favour. The ruling Democratic Rally party DYSI abstained.
Leader of DISY Averof Neophytou defending his party`s stance, referred to Cyprus` strong ties with Russia, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council that has supported Cyprus` struggle for a just and viable solution of its political problem, but noted at the same time that Cyprus is a member state of the EU.
