Larnaca Port Workers to Stage Demonstration

Port workers from Larnaca will be staging a demonstration on February 11 following a decision by the Larnaca Municipality board to vote against a request by energy companies TOTAL and ENI to make use of the town’s port facilities for future exploratory drills.
Critics of the decision say the municipality put populism before jobs with the town no paving way for over a hundred port workers losing their jobs – something that has angered the workers who were confident that the municipality would have said yes.
