Eleni Kaloyirou: Restoring Promotion of Cyprus As a Year-Round Destination is Achievable

October ended in the best way for Larnaka and Pafos international airports. According to Hermes Airports Ltd, the two airports` operator, for the first time in history, the Cypriot airports recorded over one million passengers during October.

Between 1st and 31st of October 2016, 738,275 passengers travelled through Larnaka International Airport, whilst another 270,983 passengers travelled through Pafos International Airport, Cyprus News Agency reports.

Overall, both international airports of Cyprus, handled 1,009,258 passengers during October; an increase of 31.5% or 767,321 more passengers than the same period last year, Hermes Airports Ltd press release said.

 The countries which recorded the highest increase during October is Russia, Greece, United Kingdom, Israel, Switzerland and Ukraine.

 In a statement, Eleni Kaloyirou, Chief Executive Officer of Hermes Airports, noted that “the fact that this year’s rising course continues during the months of a non-peak season is very encouraging.”

It seems, she said, that “this trend will continue during the winter months also, proving that the goal of restoring the seasonality and promotion of Cyprus as a year-round destination, is achievable.”
