Maximizing the Effectiveness of Directors and the Board

In any organisation, the Directors and the Board need to provide the leadership and accountability that will determine its future success. Directors are under great pressure and, in many cases, suffer from stress and an out-of-balance work/home life. They undertake a major role that includes many responsibilities, many of which are enforced by regulators and others imposed by the stakeholders of the organisation they are asked to lead.
In cases of newly appointed Boards, where each member brings along his/her unique and individual competences, the team dynamics of the Board are essential and appropriate mechanisms that must be in place to ensure effectiveness from the start. Professionalism in the boardroom plays a key part in the prosperity of every organisation.
