Anastasiades on Official Visit to Ireland

The President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades departs on Monday, October 17, for Dublin, Ireland, where he will pay a two-day official visit on 18 and 19 October, Cyprus News Agency reports.

On 18 October, President Anastasiades will hold meetings with the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins, the Prime Minister Enda Kenny, the Speaker of the Lower House Seán Ó Fearghaíl, and the President of the Senate Denis O`Donovan.

According to an official announcement, during the President’s meetings issues relating to the bilateral relations between Cyprus and Ireland, the latest development on the Cyprus problem, European issues including Brexit, Migration, regional developments, and other matters of mutual interests will be discussed.

On 19 October, President Anastasiades will meet with the Lord Mayor of Dublin Brendan Carr; he will also address an event organized by the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA), a think tank, on the subject “My vision of Cyprus’ role in the European Union.”

The President of the Republic, who will be accompanied by the Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides, will leave in the afternoon of 19 October for Maastricht where he will attend the celebrations of the European People’ Party for the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Maastricht. He will subsequently participate in the deliberations of the European Council in Brussels.

President Anastasiades will return to Cyprus in the morning of 22 October.
