Syllouris: An Increased Number of Investors Look For Opportunities in Cyprus

Cyprus has re-entered the arena of welcoming international investments with renewed dynamic potential, said the President of the Cyprus House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris, Cyprus News Agency reports. Speaking on Sunday at the 2nd International Investment Exhibition "BEST INVEST", in Limassol, Syllouris also said that more investors looked for opportunities in Cyprus in 2015-2016, not only in property development as before, but also in new technologies and forex.

In his opening address at the exhibition, hosted by VESTNIK KIPRA, the President of the House noted that Cyprus boasts a privileged position in the Eastern Mediterranean and has always emerged as a significant commercial and economic centre for prospective investors.

He welcomed participants and thanked the organisers for choosing Cyprus to hold the exhibition and conference, featuring 20 local companies and promoting over 40 investment projects to almost 200 prominent businesses and investors, both from Cyprus and abroad. Projects range from property, tourism and IT to energy and shipping.

Syllouris expressed his confidence that the conference will focus on issues that will provide a balanced and comprehensive assessment of the Cyprus economy and investment opportunities, among others on the stable growth of the Cyprus economy following the international financial crisis, the impact of international tax developments, and measures to protect foreign investments.

He also underlined the efforts of the government to create a Cyprus Technological Park for the development of new scientific and research projects, that aims to attracting more international companies.

Syllouris assured finally participants of the support of the Cyprus House of Representatives towards these initiatives, through legislation and parliamentary control, in order to encourage investments and opportunities for local and foreign business.
